We develop a platform for the provably secure and accountable processing of large amounts of data. The platform builds upon trusted execution environments (TEEs, e.g., Intel SGX). The platform enables new and unique forms of trustworthy data processing with tremendous potential. This includes privacy-preserving analytics of end-user data, highly secure data marketplaces, and pooling of sensitive business data.
Edgeless is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and is, within the first year, embedded into the Systems Security chair of Prof. Thorsten Holz at Ruhr-Universität Bochum.
The founders team has many years of experience working with TEEs and complimentary technologies such as blockchain. For example, while at Microsoft Research, Felix Schuster designed one of the first TEE-based systems for the cloud in 2013 and created a range of patents in the space.
Development and design of in-TEE and out-TEE software in frontend and backend
Implementation of cryptographic protocols with high security demands
Implementation of distributed systems with high performance and safety demands
Ideally, university degree in computer science, mathematics, cryptography, IT security, or similar
Experience in writing high-quality code in some of the following languages: Rust, C++17, x86-64 ASM, Python3, C#, Java, (F#, Erlang)
Experience with any of the following is a plus: distributed systems, machine learning, cryptography, differential privacy, blockchain, operating systems design
Deep understanding of security aspects in software development
High degree of self-motivation and self-organization, creativity
Desire to build something great
